Teaching MacKenzie How To Drive

I want to be clear from the beginning I hate to be in a car that I am not driving.  In my prior profession I traveled up and down the East Coast at least three days a week, alone.  Recently Mackenzie turned sixteen; time to learn how to drive.  Bobbi (Wife) is much braver than I so she took charge of the initial lessons.  Bobbi is amazing when it comes to this type of thing; somehow she managed to sit quietly in the passenger seat and give instruction.  Ralph the Poodle (Mackenzie’s Dog) also went along to insure the safety of all participants.  He was also able to keep Bobbi’s mind on something other than the driving.

Each day they drove and each day I heard how much better Mackenzie was doing.  Mackenzie continued to ask for me to take her driving and Bobbi kept telling me how much better she was doing and Ralph seemed unaffected by the driving experience so I decided one day to just ask Mackenzie if she wanted to go driving.  Excitingly she said ok Daddy.  True fully a moment of regret cam over me but now I was committed.  Now a month later and several lessons under my belt I am still alive and well.  I admit there are times when I have to take a deep breath but with Ralph on my lap, well he has been a comfort.

There are still many more hours to driving required for her license and some highway driving requirements (Bobbi has been handing the Highway stuff.) but Mackenzie’s driver education grade to this point is an A+.  You are looking good!

Thank you Mackenzie for the fun times I will remember them always (Which for an older guy is a lot to say.) and am looking forward to spending some more time together driving.

Have A Blessed Sunday

This morning this was one of the Psalms in my reading plan.  I thought how appropriate to share this with others.   I hope all have a pleasant day as we start anew.

Psalm 51
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise.
18 May it please you to prosper Zion,
to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,
in burnt offerings offered whole;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Home Gain - Sales Leads

Recently, I joined a leads generating company; first time in my sales career (35 Plus years) and three weeks later I am finished. This type of lead company provides leads, customers or better said prospects that may purchase, list, or rent a home.  The name of the company is Home Gain.  They lied from the beginning buy representing that I would have six leads in my account upon making the first payment ($29.95) and there would be at least one lead each week there after.  Additionally they explained there were several other Real Estate agents in the ColumbiaSouth Carolina Market that were participating also not true.

I don’t know what I was thinking but thank goodness this is over.  I have decided to go back to the lead generation company I have always used.  Praying to God for his help; results are significantly different and the only payment is to give your life to Jesus Christ.

How Do You Succeed?

I read another blog this morning (Jeffrey Gitomer) which has inspired this blog.  The way I will succeed in Real Estate is the same way I succeeded in Boating; getting my customers what they want.  Helping people by doing the right thing is the only way to true success.  Like Jeffrey I have read many books and early on in my career put a lot of stock in what the authors expressed.  I can’t tell you how many times I quoted Joe Gerard’s rule of 250.  I wish I could remember others but at 63 I am lucky to remember my way to the office.  Further if you think about the things you read they may sound great at that moment but when you read them later they just sound silly or are something you that you already read just twisted another way.

I learned over the past 40 years in sales that little wisdom comes from other humans it comes from God.  Whatever has been said has been said millions of times by others.  We were created by God and for his purpose.  I pray that those things I do are in his service and his reward will be great.

Thanking God

This would be a great time to give thanks to God for everything he has been doing in my life.  Real Estate is a hard business right now as I am sure you all know.  Whether you are a seller or a buyer there are many obstacles to over come on the way to the closing table.  I have met some wonderful folks and done a few rentals and am fortunate to be working with some great prospects.  Bobbi (Wife) has jumped right in and kept me inspired and working; she is one of the gifts God has blessed me with.

You see for me this is all about using the skills God has given me to help you find the home that is closest to your dreams and what is part of what God has worked out in advance for you and your family.  Now make no mistake that is a tall order, which of course is if you had no one to help.  But for me that isn’t the case because God is my assistant and Bobbi is my inspiration who keeps me focused of what is good, just and the right thing to do for the people we are helping.

My hope then is not in material things but in those things that can’t be seen but are by faith only.  It was just a week ago when I cried out to the Lord and asked for his help and he came to me quickly with his blessings.  We live in such a complex world that it seems impossible for such things to occur but it isn’t.  Remember fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom.   The Real Estate recovery will not come from government but will come from God.  I pray his prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed is your name, your kingdom come; yours will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.  Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
